Ego

Ego definition:
  1. In psychoanalysis, the division of the psyche that is conscious, most immediately controls thought and behavior, and is most in touch with external reality.
  2. An exaggerated sense of self-importance; conceit.
When you are in a face off, one-on-one, mano-mano, and your adversary has you in an arm bar with your face to the ground, what decision do you think your ego will lead you to?

My ego led me to keep tyring to over power him, causing my elbow to bend in the wrong direction with a semi-sickening noise.

Lesson: its okay to lose to friends in a wrestling match. Its not okay to keep struggling when you know you have lost.

In light of recent updates:

"- I can feel pain ..."

Make sure to repeat this at least 3 times a day when the inanimate object you call your car breaks down on you because it really does "hate" you.

On a more serious note, I'd like to thank Allaah for feeling pain too - only Muslims can turn around the thing most despised by the people of this world, into something this meaningful. Alhamdu lellaah.

Agreed, pain is a good thing.

Narrated 'Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) Allah's Apostle -salAllahu alayhi wa sallam-said, "No calamity befalls a Muslim but that Allah expiates some of his sins because of it, even though it were the prick he receives from a thorn." (Bukhari)

Now that is something that'll make you sincerely say, ALHAMDULILLAH.

I was listening to a lecture by Anwar Al-Awlaki (Hell-fire and the Day of Judgement) and he mentioned how some muslims will be purified of all their sins when they are resurected--either from the pains they endured in the dunya, in the grave or on the Day itself and will be entered into Jannah...subhanAllah walhamdulillah wAllahu akbar. May Allah make us among them.

Personally...i dont want to feel any more pain after this dunia.

btw...what are the physical signs of a broken rib?

Alhumdulillah, no broken elbow. Just a sprain...i think. The muscles are TIGHT, and hurts when arm is straightened.

I hope this heals by monday...Lemons, black seed, and honey...here i come!

of course no one 'wants' to feel pain, but I would go through anything to be pure when I go through my hisaab with Allah azza wa jal. So again, may Allah make us of those who will be pure when we meet Him ta'ala.
If the pains of this world, the agony of death, the horrors of the grave and the suffering of the Day of Judgement don't purify your sins then you will spend a term in jahanam...because Jannah is only for the pure.
There is a hadith (which I can't find the reference for now) but on the Day of Judgement, Allah will bring a man who indulged in the pleasures of this world and had the 'best' life and He ta'ala will dip him in nar for a MOMENT and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will ask him, 'have you ever felt happiness in your life?' and he will say, 'no, I have never' and likewise, Allah azza wa jal will bring a man who suffered most in this life and He subhanahu wa ta'ala will dip him in Jannah for a MOMENT and Allah will ask him, 'have you ever felt pain your life?' and he will say, 'no, I have never'...
SubhanAllah, one moment in the fire can erase all memories of happiness and pleasure and one moment in Jannah can erase all the pains and sufferings you've had to endure. And it's kinda surreal, like, this is real...jannah is real and the fire is real...and it's not a set term, this is eternal...this is khulood. subhanAllah. May Allah save us from the torment of the fire.

as for your rib, it's probably not broken because if it was you wouldn't be able to breathe--it would HURT. it's probably a bruise. and if it was broken, it would be really swollen and look all bumpy and bulgy, and the skin would be black and blue.
and the arm, probably not even a sprain. it would be really swollen if it was a sprain and it would hang weird. (actually, this depends on the severity of the sprain, it might be a minor one, wAllahu 'alam)
anyway, don't trust me, I used to be a nursing assistant, you've got doctors for that.

ahhh, and with that point, another long post of mine comes to an end.
wa salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
